Customer Reviews

Dave Smallen is compelling, meaningful, and a beautiful song writer.

I started listening to Dave Smallen's music the moment I heard Street to Nowhere open at a Straylight Run concert. Ever since then I have been a HUGE enthusiast of his music. He is a ridiculously talented writer (lyrically and musically) and you should not miss his solo effort with this great valued EP. Check it out, I think it may be impossible to be disappointed with (plus you'll be cool when you say: Hey! I knew about him WAY before his huge success (it's coming. Just wait.)).

Music from within.

I first came across Dave a few years back, in a video for Liquid Generation, when he was promoting his band Street to Nowhere. He performed a cover of Leonard Cohen's Famous Blue Raincoat with a level of raw emotion and vulnerability that really brought me into the song in a new way. It was as if I got a glimpse into his personal relationship with the song. I became a fan of Street to Nowhere and could feel, in the lyrics, a similar quality to the performance of Famous Blue Raincoat. I saw the band play a few times, and always enjoyed them and the electricity with which they played. The night I remember most however was an all acoustic set at Bottom of the Hill in San Francisco. Dave stood alone, playing his guitar. He let us all experience what the music meant to him. Congratulations Dave on the great new music.

pure awesome!!

i've been listening to dave's stuff for about 5 years now. his lyrics are powerful and emotional, but still catchy and smooth. this new album is a keeper!
