Raptured
I am enjoying this album. I really appreciate the way he taps his Texas background in a reading of the contemporary American cultural and political morass.
Intense shot of truth
Just brutal, honest truth from start to finish. It's not like anything I've ever heard. He's hilarious but about really serious stuff. And it doesn't sound like he's trying to be funny. He's emotionally invested & that's what makes it funny, not putting a happy little jokey joke at the end of everything.
There's a few sex jokes which were funny but most of the CD from start to finish is a deconstruction of modern society. Dark stuff.
I'm excited to see where his next CD goes thematically. I'm gonna see him live when he cones to town.
