Album Review

Mudrock's dry production focuses almost all of Waking the Fallen on Avenged Sevenfold's greatest strength. That, of course, would be performance, and the band delivers with unflagging aggression and precision. Never mind the lyrical ennui or throat-scrape yowling; there's more to this music than generic cliché. When he wants to, M. Shadows can passionately project in a way that turns even the grim "Desecrate Through Reverance" into an almost bouncy little melody. (Incidentally, Reverance? Remenissions? Reverand? Maybe doomsday is around the corner, but isn't there still time to run song titles and soubriquets through a spell check?) And whether attacking a riff in unison or in harmonized parts, the double-threat guitars of Synyster Gates and Zacky Vengeance do their duty like search-and-destroy commandos — in and out fast, leaving devastation in their wake. Especially noteworthy — and note-heavy — is the guitar solo that blazes through the last moments of "Second Heartbeat" and the head-spinning single-stroke virtuosity of the Reverand throughout the album. ~ Robert L. WAKING THE FALLEN

Avenged Sevenfold's second album is most definatly their best. Not only that but prbably one of the best if not the best albums of the decade. Easily a 10/10. Key tracks:Unholy Confessions, Chapter Four, Reminissions, Eternal Rest, And All Things Will End

Remenissions

I was just listening to the lyrics of Remenissions, and was completely blown away by the intricate message tied into the (as always) sweet music. give it a try!

This album is yeah, easily their best. Just enough singing and screaming for me, and I'm only a thirteen year old girl. I actually can listen to this album if I want to sleep. Aha. Yeah.

Standouts:
-Unholy Confessions
-Chapter Four
Ah, screw this. They're all good.

My favorites are, though, 1. Chapter Four, 2. I Won't See You Tonight Pt. 2-1, 3. Second Heartbeat and so on.

Nobody probably knows this, but Avenged Sevenfold actually isn't a Christian band. Their songs do tend to have reference to the bible, though :P Like Chapter Four (Cain and Abel) and "Unholy Confessions" might be somehow related but yeah.

The only problem is, as it says in the summary, the word Remenissions doesn't exist and Reverence is spelled wrong. It should be Reverance.

Main point; It's great.
