Great new sound for the Barefoot Truth evolution
Since first hearing Barefoot Truth 3 or 4 years ago, their sound has evolved immensely. They've come from a raw acoustic sound to a more jazzy/folksy sound. With the addition of Andy Wrba to the lineup, BFT has fused jazz and blues with rock and folk--an incredible, dynamic sound. With Garrett on harmonica, the blues comes flowing out, with sounds reminiscent of John Popper. The new tracks on this album are lighthearted and fun--just like the members of the band themselves. "Best of Everything" is like taking a day to just relax and be with those we enjoy spending time with; I take a walk on the beach when I hear "Easy Come High"; "Eagle Front" is and has been my favorite (glad to see how it turned out after hearing it live)--the reggae infusion is done perfectly, and the reggae message is clear--just love the music. The album's title track, "Walk Softly" is infectious, and while it may sound lighthearted, the message is certainly not--take care of what we have, and don't leave today's problems for tomorrow's world. All in all, a great, solid album that I can listen to start to finish over and over. Can't wait to see these performed live this year/next summer. Nice work boys.
