Album Review

The 2007 release by Dying Fetus, War of Attrition continues on the same extreme metal path they've been following throughout their career. In other words, it's loaded front to back with growled vocals, indecipherable lyrics (but it's a safe bet that they're quite grisly), metronome-precise drumming, and non-stop thrash riffing. Although just two releases removed from a complete lineup overhaul — save for mainstay John Gallagher (vocals, guitar) — Dying Fetus still manage to sound like a finely tuned metallic machine throughout. So much so that at certain points, it sounds like machines are covering for human musicians — especially on such tracks as "Fate of the Condemned" and "Insidious Repression." Death metal played with the utmost precision is a fitting summary of Dying Fetus' sixth release overall.

YES!!! THE ALBUM I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR!

i have been waiting for this album since July 2006, and the wait is finally over! the day this album came out, I BOUGHT IT AND DON'T REGRET IT!!!! i always liked dying fetus, but i wasn't a dedicated fan, until now. the best songs on here are insidious repression, ancient rivalry, raping the system and homicidal retribution, and unadulturated hatred(my fav). if you love death metal, this will blow you away!

!!SPOILER ALERT!!

I'm writing this as a response to all the negative, irrelavent comments on this and other Dying Fetus albums, as well as death metal in general. Guess what, if you're not into brutal/technical death metal, then there's a 99% chance you're not going to like this. Wow, that's a shocker! But, if you're actually trying to get into brutal death metal, then DON'T listen to the negative comments that say things like "This is a talentless disgrace to music" and other horsesh*t like that. These "reviews" (more like biased comments) are written by people who know nothing of the death metal genre, and are therefore useless. If you want a review that's actually helpful, read ones by actual death metal fans who have listened to this and know what they're talking about. Alright, just had to get that out of the way. Now as for the album, very good. Fast, technical parts along with slower, chunkier parts in most of the songs. Almost like mixing the extremity of Cannibal Corpse with the groove of Pantera. The vocals on this album are great also. Vocalists Gallagher (the lower, almost gurgled vocals) and Beasley (the higher, slightly more understandable vocals) are very good. As for the drummer, there's a reason he's on Sickdrummer.com. In general this is just a good brutal death metal album. So yeah, buy it, like it, and if not then I guess I'll go cry about it since you don't like the same bands that I do.

Living Infant

Unfortunately, due to lack of a better word, i must label this album as gold. Im sorry but its just to good for mortal ears. Dying Fetus finally gives birth to their masterpeice.
