my wife can't stop listening

Pure, honest, and one hell of a sound. You can enjoy listening to this music anywhere you are at - home, work, library, grocery store, on the highway, off to the side, nightime, morning, a quick lunch break... anytime. Not a song fails to impress. If I knew how many days, I would start counting the down the wait for the follow-up album.

She Delivers

I was really impressed with the originality of the debut from She Swings. The gypsy-pop quality was original and cool to listen to. It’s been a while since that album, and after releasing some true DIY countrified love songs on their Valentine album, Six Sad Songs, (replete with amazing cover art), the band is back with a full length release on Wasted Love Songs. The band sounds more mature and focused than on the previous efforts, and additions like lap steel and fiddle bring a haunting quality hinted at in the debut, but not realized until this album. The musical additions really flesh out these songs; furthermore, the recording quality is great. There are so many great moments on this album, and this is why it is a brilliant release. It surprises as it unfolds. “Lullaby” is cool. The harmonica is more perfected and the lyrics are strong. The song plays like a Tupelo B side. And I say this as a lover of B Sides. Ryan's Song is a number that makes me wonder where the hell it came from. I love the guitar work on this one, and it reminds me a lot of the humor and rhythms found on Trip Shakespeare albums. You Stole My Heart has an interesting bass that only makes this song what it is. There is a lot of emotion in the music of SSSS, and the one thing I’ve always liked about this band is that they put their heart into what they do. The drumming in this band is something that probably doesn’t get enough attention. The drums are solid, but there are little flourishes here and there in each song which, if listening close, really shake the song to something good. The band plays as a band on this album. The jam at the end of Highway speaks to this clearly. The female singer is complete kudos to SSSS. What were you guys thinking for waiting this long for her? Sing to Me. The ending of Sing to Me is one of those moments that just makes me glad to have musicians in the world. Flown the Coop is a high point. “Flown” is capable of bringing chills. I immediately hit repeat as it ended. This is where the band finds their stride because it no longer sounds like anything but big heart and guts and truth from the heartland.

Total Awesomeness!

I love the entire collection of music on Wasted Love Songs. Each song is so strong individually and the entire album flows together smoothly. I think the music appeals to a large audience of all ages and generations...my kids LOVE it, my parents LOVE it and of course, I LOVE it! It's great music you can listen to at any time of day doing anything. I'm very excited to hear them live in the near future and am sure I won't be disappointed! Can't wait to hear their next album!!!
