iTunes Review

Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl still believes in rock ‘n’ roll. He plays it with the same passion and commitment he brought to Nirvana and to his own group for the past two decades. To kick off the next decade, Grohl took his band into his garage and recorded this album to analog tape with ferocious results. The opening screams of “Bridge Burning” and the hard rock guitar riffs immediately establish that Foo Fighters are stepping up their game. The seductive pop harmonies still underpin the hooks, but the energy behind these tracks is a live wire. Hüsker Dü and Sugar frontman Bob Mould joins the group for “Dear Rosemary,” and former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic adds bass and accordion to two tracks. Nevermind producer, Butch Vig, produced the sessions, giving everything a vicious bite. Even the single, “Rope,” keeps its fangs. The songwriting is straightforward and powerful. “These Days” is the quiet before the storm as the songs builds to its own climax. Every track delivers what this band has always promised.

Hell Yeah!

Nice to see rock isn't Dead!

Foo Fighters - Wasting Light = Amazing!!!

This album is amazing from start to finish. Pat Smear is finally back in the fold on guitar after a 14 year exit from the band in 1997 and is a much welcomed addition. Butch Vig's production is top notch. I love that this album incorporates the craziness and raw energy of the very first album (which, in case you we're unaware, was basically a Dave Grohl solo album) and that the triple-threat of Dave, Chris & Pat's guitars are front and center in the mix. Nirvana veteran Krist Novoselic's amazing bass is guest featured on the song I Should Have Known. My favorite songs on the album are Back & Forth and Walk. What I like most about this album is that it's a mixed bag. You go from in-your-face songs to beautiful melodic songs and back again throughout that entire album. I would spring for the deluxe addition if I were you. Better Off, the bonus track, is also amazing. Also, if you haven't seen it yet, I would recommend seeing the Foo Fighters: Back & Forth documentary which is very entertaining and contains behind-the-studio footage of them recording this album. Happy listening!!!

Disappointed

Was really hoping for an awesome album. This doesn't really sound like them...

Formed: 1995 in Seattle, WA

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

When Foo Fighters released a debut album written and recorded entirely by leader Dave Grohl — at that point known only as the powerhouse drummer for Nirvana — in the summer of 1995, few would have guessed that the group would wind up as the one band to survive the '90s alt-rock explosion unscathed. Other bands burned brighter but they flamed out, breaking up after scoring a hit or two, but the Foos steadily racked up success after success, filling up stadiums around the world while staying...
