Album Review
How do you know that former blink-182 leader Tom DeLonge intends for his post-blink project Angels and Airwaves to be taken seriously? Because throughout their debut album, We Don't Need to Whisper, he relies on sounds and textures borrowed from 1988, the era when college rock was filled with atmospheric sonics and earnest politics. Specifically, he layers delayed guitars ripped from U2 over soundscapes equally inspired by the Cure, New Order, Peter Gabriel, and The Unforgettable Fire, all in an attempt to fashion a modern-day protest record. The result might be less than successful, but it is interesting, particularly in how DeLonge's desire to be taken seriously has led him to use the serious music of his adolescence as a signifier that he's serious now.

Tom has Done it.
In a time when almost every band out there is about darkness and despair and loneliness comes this band with its REDICULOUS CHEMESTRY that you can tell just from listening to one track. This Album from beginning to end is all about the fact that you are alive and the world is not as doom and gloom as other people say it is. Angels & Airwaves has surpassed the expectations of me and many other fans will agree I am certain
Didn't Expect This!
Wow! This is actually a VERY cool album! I ended up only buying 6 of the tunes but am now wishing I just bought the whole album so I could have "The Adventure - Live". With swirling guitars and pads and the melodic choruses, this makes a great CD! BUY the WHOLE thing! I wish I did!
Angels & Airwaves- A Modern Masterpiece
The highly anticipated debut from Tom DeLonge's new band is brilliant effort. We Don't Need to Whisper has a very modern sound to it. The band's new sound and songwriting is much more mature than any of his previous material. Valkyrie Missile is the perfect song to start you on this musical journey. The first release, the Adventure, is by far one of the best songs of the year and captures the essence and spirit of the album. This album is loaded with gems. This could easily be the album of the year.
