A masterpiece by TCS
i stumbled upon TCS and Kerry like i have hundreds of other bands along this cocaine-addictive-like program that is iTunes about 2 years ago. i bought his first release and enjoyed it greatly. i like to everything from slipknot to michael jackson to puscifer to kenny chesney to nine inch nails to kerry muzzey, the candlepark stars, and slow dancing society. that being said, when i say something is magnificent - it is. kerry's music is to shoegaze what reznor's "the downward spiral" is to industrial metal.
i am 1st Lieutenant Clark Tucker and i have been here in the eastern part of Afghanistan for almost 10 months. Kerry and I have become great friends and he has been kind enough to send this soldier care packages full of things to tide me over until i get back to the great USA. i was talking to Kerry 1 night and told him if i could let the world see one thing from afghanistan, amidst all the hell and violence that this place is known for, i would show them the night sky. sometimes at night, after a day of patrols, i will step outside my room here and lean up against the bunker and smoke, just gazing at the most brilliant sky on this earth. you can literally see the milky way galaxy, as it is a huge band of white dust across the center of the sky... there are more stars here than any man could ever count. the presence of G-d just brings you to your knees in this moment. its like you can reach up and touch the face of G-d. i told Kerry about this one night and he wrote the song, "Tucker and the Night Sky" about me and this description of heaven, and the only thing that keeps me sane on some days.
don't buy this b/c i told a cool story. buy this b/c it is a true work of musical and sonic genius. God bless Kerry Muzzey and his "band," if i can call it that. I will be a fan for years and a friend forever.

The Candlepark Stars continue to blow my mind. I can't think of another post-rock band that started off with such great music, but then each album got even better than the last one. Like, no disappointment (EITS held the record but I didn't like their last album... for me it didn't live up to the long wait). Candlepark Stars just released "All the Little Things" about a month ago, which was totally a 5-star album, and now this little gift -- which is EVEN BETTER. Best money ever spent, seriously. It's like music for dreaming.
