Ray Stevens: We The People

Ray Stevens offers up some political holiday cheer with this song, a message to Congress about ObamaCare. Although some may find the song offensive or insensitive, depending on one's own political beliefs, at the core of the song is the common sense fact that health care doesn't need this complete overhaul where an entire system is imploded and resurrected within a 6 to 7 year time frame. The details and aftermath of this health care bill, should it pass, is something the American people will not be happy with.

The tax hikes start immediately while any health care change won't even take effect until sometime in 2013 or 2014. The bill is loaded with special interest language and other entitlements for certain states while when it's all said and done there will be at least 20 million Americans not even covered according to reports from those who've studied the intricates of the bill. As the song suggests, this ObamaCare is nothing more than pork barrel spending and tax hikes...expanding the role of Government in the process.

So, what this song does is in a humorous way hammer home the little tid-bits and murky information that the leaders in the Senate don't want to trickle out into the public. When Ray speaks about Congress not listening to the voters he's referring to the Democrats in Congress who, for political ambitions perhaps, are lining up to vote on a bill that their own constituents aren't in favor of. Government run health care for some is a dream but to many others it's a nightmare and if you're in the many others who see potential ObamaCare to be a nightmare this song is right up your alley.

The title is perfect!

I'm so glad he wrote this song. It says exactly what the people in this country think and how we feel about what's going on. These guys have taken the term "crooked politician" to a whole new level and I'm disgusted with them all!

Piont made 

I really like this song! It gets to the piont and says excatly what most people don't understand. Good Job Ray2up

One of the most popular novelty artists of all time, Ray Stevens enjoyed a remarkably long career, with a stretch of charting singles — some of them major hits — that spanned four decades. Unlike parody king Weird Al Yankovic, Stevens made most of his impact with original material, often based on cultural trends of the day. Yet his knack for sheer silliness translated across generations, not to mention countless compilations and special TV offers. Stevens was a legitimately skilled singer...
