Read About This Song and Why Its Important
I recently read a USA Today article about this artist and his process in making this song. It's a labor of love of peace for his country, Sudan; as well as a plea for global awareness of the difficulties occuring in his country.
Let's take a moment and consider how we as Americans, a culture so fortunate to live in a (generally) peaceful country , could empathize and assist other people in the world that currently do not have such comforts.

Genre-straddling African Christian gospel rapper Emmanuel Jal was born in the village of Tong (sometimes spelled Tony) in southern Sudan around 1980. His mother died when he was still a young child of seven or so, and Jal was forced into a Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA) military training camp in Ethiopia, where he was trained to be a soldier, participating in military battles before he was even a teenager.
