iTunes Review
If you're partial to what some folks call "whisper rock" — delicate and sometimes precious singer/songwriter based music characterized by acoustic guitars, string sections and of course wispy, hushed vocals like those of Nick Drake, Neil Halstead, Jack Johnson, Elliott Smith, etc. — then you're almost sure to fall for the songs of Joshua Radin if you haven't already. Radin's music was discovered by his friend actor/filmmaker Zach Braff who was so impressed with the aptly titled "Winter" (it sounds wintry) that he featured it on the soundtrack to his hit television show Scrubs. A deal with Columbia Records immediately followed and Radin's recordings were subsequently groomed for other young adult based television shows like Grey's Anatomy, One Tree Hill, and Brothers And Sisters to name a few. Throughout We Were Here, Radin's slightly textured voice sounds like he was just awoken from a nap (especially on the opening song "Sundrenched World") as his lyrics confess the complexities of living the life of a hopeless romantic. Fellow tunesmith Priscilla Ahn peppers Radin's debut with similarly fragile harmonies, helping to give the album the feel of an indie-targeted film soundtrack that sounds more Garden State than Juno.
Customer Reviews
Time to find a new reviewer, I believe.
Yes, Joshua Radin is breathy. Yes, Joshua Radin's break came from being friends with Zach Braff. But don't kid yourself, reviewer - if your dream was to become a recording artist, and one of your friends just HAPPENED to be the star of a successful TV show known for playing unsigned musicians, would you honestly let that chance pass you by? Not to mention Joshua has gotten a fan following that has stretched farrrrrr beyond the people who watch Scrubs. Like me! I listen to this album on repeat every day before I go to bed, and it calms me down so much, it's like a medicine. His voice is soothing, his lyrics are strung together perfectly...a little breathiness never hurt anyone.
Wow! Who could write that about someone?
Dear Reviewer, First of all, the whole point of Itunes is to promote and encourage the music of different artists and to show the diversity of genres. Every reviewer is supposed to be unbiased and talk about the kinds of songs that artists plays. Just because you happen to not like his kind of music does not mean that it is horrible. You are driving customers away with your opinionated and biased review. Second of all, I have never seen or heard a review quite like this on Itunes. It sounds as though you are extremely jealous of him (which you are) so you are venting all of your negative thoughts. That is no way to do this. If you are jealous, just get over it because you will never have the amount of talent that Joshua Radin has. Lastly, you mentioned that Joshua wouldn't be here if not for his friend promoting him from Scrubs. So what? Friends are the most important thing in life! They help you, just as the guy in Scrubs did for Radin. That is not a horrible thing - friends help each other out, so don't say that in a negative way. It is common for people to do nice things for others, but apparently you do not think so (probably because no one has done anything nice for you!) Itunes - next time check the reviewer before you give them a job of reviewing albulms.

My new favorite album. Star Mile is probably one of the most beautiful songs I've heard this year. And Sundrenched World drew me in from the beginning. The Elliot Smith-like qualities of Radin only add to his appeal for me (and let's face it, Elliot Smith stole his sound from Simon & Garfunkel!) The record is tight with only a few missteps, and these I'm sure will be overcome with time and more experience. Sorry Zach Braff, I can't stand your acting - but you do have exceptionally good taste in music, my friend. Keep bringing your talented friends to the table.
