EL-P

This is not your average EL-P album. There is no rapping. Aside from a few altered instumental versions of harder to find tracks, this is an almost continuous mix of new work that has that "EL-P sound"- dirty dusty drums over syth-heavy soundscapes that often veer farther from hip hop than EL's production work meant for other rappers (or himself). I would reccomend this LP to fans of beat-heavy electronica as much as I would to the Def Jux heads. There are hints of Amon Tobin, Aphex Twin, Flying Lotus, Scott La Rock, Rick Rubin, Steely Dan, Emerson Lake & Palmer and Public Enemy in these progressive, grimey beats. Overall, a great soundtrack to the Blade Runner sequel that will never happen.

Business as usual for this guy, he continues to grow as an artist with every release. He tools each track into a combination of movements that flesh out into an enthralling soundtrack, most instrumentals to me are background music, not this one. Keep on it el
