Customer Reviews
'Album Review' sections is jaded...
Please don't judge the album by the review section. I can see that musical politicing has influence the writer of the review, but for the listener uninformed with the workings of the British rock world, good music is good music. Its fresh rock with a feel somewhere between an upbeat Oasis and the punk feel of the Hives. Definitely catchy, some hard edge here and there.
Brit Rising...
Please don't read the iTunes review above because they don't know what they are talking about. This is so for two reasons. 1. They are blatantly American, and 2. Who ever wrote it doesn't know Oasis from Nirvana. While I say that they are blatantly American, I do realize that I too am American, but do understand that I've heard of Oasis in more of a way then saying I've heard "Wonderwall". Give me "Bring It On Down" any day. Regardless, The Enemy gave me hope for British music again. Some thing I haven't felt since 1997, when "Be Here Now" was released. The Enemy speak to me like Oasis does. Their subject matter is obviously on the different side of the emotional tracks, but their sound is born out of the same working-class lineage. Just because they aren't Mancs, doesn't make them less legitimate to wear the crown. They do share one great influence with Oasis: Paul Weller. This band is magical. They take everything I feel about life currently and turn it into Jam-infused, blaring, British guitar rock. "You're Not Alone" is a mountainous anthem unlike anything we've had in years. It's music that is actually about something, unlike other modern music. It's the "Definitely Maybe" to Arctic Monkey's "Whatever People Say I Am...". Don't get me wrong, I love the Arctics and especially Alex Turner, but The Enemy make them seem as working class as Blur. Hype be damned, this band and album is all grit and promise
best new realese by far
