Dan King-Western Color
The new album took me a little by surprise, with the usual great lyrics and roots flavor, but also a haunting twinge that stayed with me long after it'd been shut off. Check out Raggedy (live), The Ruins, and Good Night Romeo for sure. Put it on in the car, in the kitchen, or on the porch after a long day. This is a keeper.
A Well Crafted Album
This album is really anchored by some top notch playing and musicianship. Each instrumental voice has such a great sound and tone, and is played just the right amount in just the right spots that the tracks blend into a warm, rich foundation for Dan King's songs to tell their stories and paint their pictures. Never even a hint of overplaying, everyone is clearly playing for the songs. What more could you ask for?
