Album Review

Heart had a second run on the charts in 1985 when they signed to Capitol Records and refashioned themselves as a mainstream pop/rock band, heavy on melodies and power ballads. The move paid off immediately, as they scored four Top Ten hits from Heart, their first record for the label: "What About Love?," "Never," "These Dreams," and "Nothin' at All." Heart kept up their hot streak for several more years, reaching the Top Ten three other times with the number one hit "Alone," "Who Will You Run To," and "All I Wanna Do Is Make Love to You." All of those songs are on Greatest Hits: 1985-1995, along with 11 other tracks, including the semi-rarities of the Ann Wilson and Robin Zander duet "Surrender to Me" and the "studio version" of "You're the Voice." It may run a little long for the more casual fans, but overall, this is an excellent overview of the era, perfect for fans that don't need the full-length studio albums.

Buyer Beware - The 70's No Show

1 star is harsh but it is intended to draw attention. These are the post MTV hits and Heart still sounds great but does not include Barracuda, Crazy On You, and the psychedelic Magic Man which I first remembered being released in 1976. Fly Like An Eagle from Steve Miller Band was released right around the same time and they were my first exposure to classic rock. I saved my allowance and as a 6 (almost 7) year old purchased my first two 45's from the Stone Mountain, Georgia K-Mart. It sounds silly but that was a huge leap for my conciousness & personal evolution as they opened doors to pathways through the forest that were not there before. When my Doors of Perception were cleansed about 8 years later I saw the world and reality as it is - Infinite, One as everything is connected as One. Truth and Beauty. Huxley was respected. Carlos Castenada wrote that "reality is only a description of reality" (this was way before "The Secret" was written) and I Know. I know that there truly are plant "teachers" not to be taken lightly. How many urban shamans turned on and tuned in to travel out West or India, Europe, or South America or did their Vision Quest close to home and became local neighborhood heroes?
Just a warning - to the new American youth that will find nature and wilderness to be comforting, safe and more real than where they were before with a tv on. Find a lover to hold next to the fire while passing & sharing the bottle and sacred smoke with your friends 'round the fire. Open your mind and grab on to a dream. Without love in a dream it will never come true some say. A Magic Man never hurts the girl that falls in love with her man she repects as the coolest thing to come her way. Be True. Honest, a guide, a shelter from the storm. Never hurt a woman especially one that sees something special in you and wants to connect and learn from you. In her reality you might be a magic man, a shaman. You watch out for the synchronicity to start to happen and of you truly open your eyes you will see that magic is real. Go to the woods, mountains, desert, or canyon with a small group of friends and work your magic. Be safe. Keep out of sight, keep your fire small and always make sure it is completely out covered with dirt, etc. Never leave trash. Always leave your sight in better condition than when you arrived.
At any rate, uh , What was I talking about?
