Album Review

In an age of endlessly generic radio rock, Out of Ruin boldly represent the indie spirit of "we know who we are, whether or not it's going to sell." A friendly '90s rock sound lingers, an unlikely concoction of Lit, Deep Blue Something, and Much Afraid-era Jars of Clay. Brothers Gram and Ben Messer weathered a long stretch of lineup issues and health ailments that kept the band sidelined for years. Gram finally took over vocal duties on this national debut, with mostly pleasing results. The project would benefit from more hooks, but the album offers an enjoyable listen regardless. And kudos for sticking with their guns and not streamlining their craft to sound like every other worship band of the time. With a little more melody, these guys could give Christian rock a much needed turn on its end.

What I can

Very special. I did a lot of healing listening to this cd over and over again. Especially "Numb". This cd will always be close to my heart.
