Customer Reviews

I am Dirty Three, because I love them.

The songs on this album are nearly as memorable as those found on Horse Stories, Dirty Three's masterpiece. These songs are a bit more subdued and don't end up in a chaotic mess like those found on Horse Stories. They are bit more thoughtful, a bit more lovely, but ultimately not QUITE as cathartic and satisfying either. The perfect second album to get by Dirty Three. You'll live with these melodies forever and if you're not terribly punk rock or avant-garde, this could well be your favorite Dirty Three album.

One of the greatest works of art EVER!

This band will be remembered and referenced by artists for decades, maybe even centuries. Free expression at it's utmost perfection. This is thier masterpiece in my opinion. The first three songs are absolutely beautiful. I am a musicologist and I keep coming back to this record and recommending it to friends. Buy it on vinyl if you have the means. If could only own one album on a desert island...it would be this.

Genius

This album is absolutely perfect. It captures so many feelings from start to finish. And I don't agree with the iTunes review because "I Offered It Up to the Stars & the Night Sky" is one of the most beautiful and saddest songs on this album. The reviewer gives it cred by comparing it to a Steve Reich piece but to call it unlistenable is offensive. You CAN listen to it and for the parts that seem "unlistenable" you'll find that they play with the "listenable" parts to create a powerful dichotomy of sound that powers through to the end.
