Despite a handful of weak moments, When the Wrong One Loves You Right finds Wade Hayes maintaining the high standards of his first two records. Hayes' voice is deep and resonant with emotion, helping to distinguish even the weaker cuts, but it's songs like "The Day She Left Tulsa (In a Chevy)," where the melody, lyric and delivery blend perfectly, that illustrate Hayes' true potential.

...moving country songs ever recorded lies here, 'The Day That She Left Tulsa'. Few artists could sing such a song and carry all the emotion while still maintaining such a beautiful tone. Perhaps Wade Hayes is underrated.
