Album Review

The second full-length by North Carolina screamo act Alesana finds the sextet inching ever closer to the mall punk mainstream. Where the pretentiously titled debut, On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax, was focused primarily on lead singer Dennis Lee's forced screams and growls, the more commercially minded Where Myth Fades to Legend makes far greater use of the band's clean vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist Shawn Milke, whose appealingly whiny voice is more suited to the hooks-and-riffs songwriting that predominates here. Simply on that basis, the album is an improvement over their debut, and Where Myth Fades to Legend is conceivably of interest to some subset of the Vans Warped Tour crowd.

EPIC! =)

Alesana is still amazing as ever!! =D

Track 1

Track 1 is the best song on the album IMO

A Masterpiece

For some reason this is a lot of people's least favorite Alesana album. I think this is amazing just like all of their albums. I love that most of the songs are based on old fairy tales and Brothers Grimm stories. Seduction is based on the story The Maid Maleen and a Most Profound Quiet is based on The Robber Bridegroom. My favorite song off this album is Red and Dying Evening which is probably the heaviest song. I also love the song As You Wish that Shawn sings with his sister, Melissa. The lyrics in this album are beautiful and you will probably enjoy this album more if you know the meaning behind them. If you already love Alesana you NEED to get this album.
