Alright.

For me, a lot of the songs sounded really similar. that could just be bad previews, but mayer's voice is very, very distinct and (in my opinion) he really has to work the music and lyrics to make the songs sound unique. This album just didn't do that. It's not bad, just not worth $14.

Highlights:
Who Says - a sweet, lullaby-ish song. I'm not crazy about the lyric "who says I can't get stoned," but the overall song is lovely and relaxing.

Heartbreak Warfare - beautiful. I've only listened to the iTunes preview, but I think it's safe to say I'm in love.

Anyway. Final verdict? Good. A bit of a disappointment, especially after Continuum, but not bad.

really?

by used to be a fan of John Mayer

John sold his soul to the devil of mainstream music. Right when I thought he had moved past his own insecurities (with the first two albums..) and produced a Continuum, a fantastic album which was real and true to the soul, he turns around and gives us this crap.

I'm dissapointed.

Getting used to it.

When Continuum came out, I had some reservations. After listening to it for a bit, the songs started to click with me...well, all except for "Waiting on the World to Change". Not a fan of that one.

This album has its hooks. At first listen, its different. But several of the tracks like "Assasin" really stand out to me. I love the drum groove there and the heavy guitar at the end. Good stuff.

Half of my Heart is a bit cheesy. I can picture John and Taylor in some sort of Osmond type outfit snapping their fingers and swaying as they sing this one.

Overall, I think its a good album. Assasin is my favorite track by far.
