It's OK

Being a hugh U2 fan, I own "The Complete U2" which has tracks 1 and 4 from this EP so I only purhcased the middle two. Paint it Black is the better of the two but neither are outstanding. U2 had starting writing and playing their own music as students as they could not play covers from other bands well enough to get gigs. I am sure they have improved at covers since then so they must have been really bad at it back then as I would say these are just OK.

Decent Filler

"Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses" is a decent song, but the one worth your money here is the cover version of "Fortunate Son." It's nice to hear U2 bring their sound and style to this classic rock tune, and have some fun (it's one of the better U2 covers). "Paint It Black" is okay, but the transfer over to U2 from the Stones doesn't quite fit. If you weren't that into "Achtung Baby," you can skip the other songs, but do consider "Fortunate Son."

this is for chupa X

that guy had to go and ruin the average rating of this ep cause he didn't like 'paint it black' first of all, it's a nasty (nasty being good) cover second of all, it's a filler song, so even if it was bad, who really cares.

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

They were rock & roll crusaders during an era of synthesized pop and heavy metal, equally known for their sweeping sound as for their grandiose statements about politics and religion. The Edge provided the group with a signature sound by creating sweeping sonic landscapes with his heavily processed, echoed guitars. Though the Edge's style wasn't conventional,...
