Jon Finn Group- Wicked
Jon Finn is a genious. He plays guitar in a different way than i've heard. Some of his lines are incredible. His brother Larry on drums is also amazing, he has this perfect way of playing, sometimes using odd rolls and fills getting away from the beat, but always ending exactly on one. Joe Santerre on bass and Ross Ramsay on keys fill the band in perfectly. the both of them are also insane players themselves. All in all this album is incredible. The tunes are extremely unique.....sometimes hard, sometimes soft at 45 bpm with so much feel it hurts. The time signatures can get a little crazy at times but it still sounds groovin like the rest of their stuff. your guarenteed to like this two and two monkeys, but they're all incredible.
Amazing - Pick this up!
Jon Finn is one of the best guitar players out there right now. I've met the man a few times @ Berklee College of Music (where he's a professor), and not only is he utterly humble and friendly, but he can find his way around 6 strings with ease. If you dig stuff like Satriani, Eric Johnson, and Steve Morse, you'll love this album. The unfortunate thing for me is my favorite song is track 1 - General Sense of Well-Being, so most times I have to listen to this backwards (or on random), or it's not as impressive. However, Ashley's Star is a beautiful melody written for Jon's daughter, the Pompous Music Suite's out of the world, and If Steve Ray Vaughn Went To Berklee And Studied Jazz is simply as fun as it sounds. CHECK IT OUT!!!
