iTunes Review
Savoring his recovery from major heart surgery in 2009, Peter Case went into the studio with drummer DJ Bonebrake of X and guitarist Ron Franklin of Gasoline Silver and cut live to two-inch tape this twelve-track album that sounds like a rockabilly-blues band having fun on the weekends. The sound is thick with tremolo-ed guitars and greasy beats that come from the ‘50s dirtiest blues records. Throw in a vocal delivery that tips towards the late Lux Interior of the Cramps and the tunes take on an otherworldly quality. “Dig What You’re Putting Down” is the sound of a hard-rockin’ trio enjoying their work. “Thirty Days In The Workhouse” is the sound of an iron-hard road gang taking it to the streets. “Ain’t Got No Dough” is an ageless, rough-and-tumble rockabilly number for the working man. “Somebody Told The Truth” slows things down for a funky swamp blues number. Case is in gritty form. Bonebrake is relentless and Franklin colors within the lines, just barely, for this ragged celebration of life.

Classic
Beautiful album considering what every other artist is trying to do. This piece of work evokes the greats of this type of genre. Haha I love this album!!. Go "sleazy chill cigarette smoking rock'n'roll!."
Really Classic
Went to his concert in Claremont a few weeks ago. Really diggin' his style. He's an awesome guy.
A little grease for the wheels
From Cases 2007 release, Let Us Praise Sleepy John, you might have figured that Case had become a not so mellow acoustic folkie. This record shows Peter's love and knowledge of blues, roots rock, and all the stuff that made his stint with the Plimsouls so exciting. House Rent Party seems like a reflection on the toll his 2009 health crisis took on his wallet. (Add to that the fact that people are downloading more, and buying CDs less.) The Words In Red is a rant against the religious people who use Christianity to condemn and oppress and ignore what Jesus said. Old Blue Car is a remake of a Peter Case classic.
Anyhow, whatever kind of music Peter serves up, it just gets more satisfying. Send some love his way. Download this record. Better yet, go to a show and see him live!
