Still good, twenty years later.

As being born a 90's kid, I didn't hear the b 52's when they first came out. However, I grew up listening to them because of my mom and her generation. Can't say I'm mad she did it, this album is amazing. All of their albums are purely genius music. I know pretty much all the songs, thanks mom, and it's a shame the music today isn't as good. Ahh, b 52's are one of my favorite groups from the 80's.

Ooooooh House-a-tosis!...

This is easily one of the best B-52 albums. I remember getting it on vinyl and playing it over and over. "Party Out of Bounds", "Dirty Back Road", "Give Me Back My Man" and of course, "Private Idaho" are bouffant classics! Some of the best party music ever made. Grade A stuff.

Wild Planet

I think that "Dirty Back Road" is one of the B-52's best and most underrated songs. It's actually more mainstream than most of what they record, but that's not the reason it's a great song. It's just very chill, has a great beat, and Kate & Cindy always sounds great whenever the girls harmonize. The two just compliment each other so well, so much better than the from ABBA and the Mamas and the Papas! Although they have a LOT of great songs when you look at them all. A great band. But "Wild Planet" in general is a great album. Every song is fun, and that's what the B-52's are: FUN! Even though they are successful, It's too bad they aren't given more credit. They deserve it. Did you ever see them on "Behind the Music" on VH-1?? I don't think they had an episode (correct me if I'm wrong) and that's what I mean by "more credit." I guess R.E.M. just overshadows them because they are from the same area, as was RuPaul! My point: I love 'em!!!

Biography

Formed: October, 1976 in Athens, GA

Genre: Pop

Years Active: '70s, '80s, '90s, '00s, '10s

The first of many acts to cement the college town of Athens, GA, as a hotbed of alternative music, the B-52's took their name from the Southern slang for the mile-high bouffant wigs sported by singers Kate Pierson and Cindy Wilson, a look emblematic of the band's campy, thrift-store aesthetic. The five-piece group, which also included founding members Fred Schneider, guitarist Ricky Wilson (Cindy's older brother), and drummer Keith Strickland, formed in the mid-'70s after a drunken evening at a Chinese...
