iTunes Review

The Noisettes are tough to classify. The 10 tunes on Wild Young Hearts, their second release, are an infectious mash-up of disco, funk, R&B, and sharp pop. The London-based trio is led by first-rate singer and bassist Shingai Shoniwa, a diva who knows how to keep her soaring voice in check so that it serves the songs first. Her bandmates are also superb musicians who keep the rhythm front and center, which helps their genre-jumping flow smoothly and naturally from one song to the next. “Never Forget You” is a spectacular slice of string-sweetened neo soul with some old school trappings, “Don’t Upset the Rhythm” is a dance floor anthem, “Sometimes” features jazzy acoustic stylings, and “Beat of My Heart” and the title track are straight-up solid pop. The Noisettes’ ability to nail such diverse styles without lagging speaks volumes about the quality of Wild Young Hearts as well as the band’s huge potential.

FINALLY!!!!!!

Yes! I've been waiting for this album, ever since Don't Upset the Rythym popped up on the UK charts. After looking into the Noisettes, I found that I loved every song I heard! This album reminds me a lot of Maroon 5's mellow but rocking album "It Won't Be Soon Before Long". Best tracks are Wild Young Hearts, Don't Upset the Rythym, Never Forget You, and Saturday Night! This band is definately one to look out for!

Keepin' the train on the right track...

I loved the first album. This one seems to be a different, yet nice addition to the Noisettes discography. Her voice is still phenomenal, and the tunes are still catchy. I get a good vibe from just listening to the 30 sec samples, and some of the songs are on imeem.com, so you can listen to the whole track. You be the judge, but if you're like me, you'll be planning to purchase this album whenever you get the funds.

Fantastic CD

Ran into this band in Copenhagen, the songs stuck with me back to NYC. Better than 90% of the stuff on the market today. GET THIS!

Biography

Formed: London, England

Genre: Pop

Years Active: '00s, '10s

Playing ragged but energetic garage-influenced indie rock with the ferocity of punk but with a soulful, bluesy edge, the Noisettes were founded by guitarist Dan Smith and singer/bassist Shingai Shoniwa, who previously worked together in the band Sonarfly. While the pair already had a working relationship, in the spring of 2003 they began getting together to write songs, and their new project fell into place when they met drummer Jamie Morrison, whose manic approach matched Smith and Shoniwa's brash,...
