iTunes Review

Incubus inhabits a space between pop and metal, but they have never been a pop metal band. After jumping into the alternative radio landscape with “Stellar” and “Pardon Me,” the band took a cue from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and gradually morphed their sound into a mellow, passionate, groovy take on modern hard rock music, exemplified by “Drive,” “Love Hurts,” and “Dig.” If there is a corollary to Anthony Kiedis’s soaring unblemished vocals, it is Brandon Boyd, and similarly Incubus shift easily from softer songs into the agitated riffs of “Megalomaniac,” “Anna Molly,” and “Midnight Swim” (a new track produced by Brendan O’Brien). Even at 27 tracks, Monuments and Melodies is surprisingly consistent. The first 15 songs cover the band’s chart hits, while the final 11 tracks cover rarities, with “Look Alive,” “Martini,” and an acoustic version of “A Certain Shade of Green,” standing out among the pack. Two new songs (“Black Heart Inertia” and “Midnight Swim”) suggest that Incubus’ best work might still be ahead of them, although the surprisingly credible cover of Prince’s “Let’s Go Crazy” will be icing on the cake for longtime fans.

Incubus Rocks

by AeL26

I have always been a fan of Incubus and I will continue to be. The band puts out amazing music. Everyone has their own taste and their own opinions....I personally will always listen to Incubus, the new and the classics. Thanks for being an amazing band!

Excellent Album-and stop bringing up this "Old Stuff" and "What happened" business!

by LoveIncubus

First, let me say that this is the best Incubus collection of old and new songs ever-26 songs along with a code to access over 500 songs and videos online. If that's not impressive, I don't know what is.
Second, enough with this "there's no songs from SCIENCE or Fungus Amongus" thing. Greatest hits means songs that have been put out as singles or heard on the radio. You don't hear any songs from those two albums on the radio-it's all from Make Yourself and later. If you want to hear SCIENCE or Fungus Amongus, then buy those albums and listen to them-simple! And their new songs on disk 2 are fantastic by the way.
Relating to what I just said above,"What happened to Incubus" is nothing bad at all. They are a great band and deserve to keep going.
Lastly, this "26-song album with vault access code" is definitely not a waste of money. If you bought the album, and said "I can't believe I wasted my money on this" the solution for next time is to go online, look at the songs on the next album and LISTEN TO THEM, so that way you can tell whether you want to spend money on it or not.
I hope I'm not being mean and I respect your opinions-I've just read a bunch of reviews for this album and some of the negative ones have been a little too overboard-just write"I did not like the album" and end it there. I know that's not how short my whole review is-I was just trying to get my point across.
Fantastic Album, Incubus-can't wait for 2010! If you didn't buy this album yet, ignore the negative reviews and go pick one up-you won't be sorry!

Greatest HITS

by FnkDrms89

Let me first address the complainers: this is a greatest HITS album on which they compile the band's greatest chart hits. This explains the lack of earlier songs from S.C.I.E.N.C.E. Those songs weren't "hits". I'm not saying they weren't good songs, I love that album as much as any other Incubus album, but they didn't make the charts.

Secondly, this is a solid release with an emphasis on the second disc. I love all of the B-Sides almost as much as the songs that made it onto the albums. Look Alive is one of their best songs overall, and other tracks like While All the Vultures Feed and Martini show their willingness to expand and explore. I admire Incubus' sophistication in their song writing and that their songs aren't all just I-IV-V standard pop songs. This is a great album to introduce new listeners to a great band and for fans to explore very substantial, previously unreleased material.
