iTunes Review
With Roots Above And Branches Below finds Christian metalcore sextet the Devil Wears Prada lyrically branching out from their faith-based roots and veering toward a darker, heavier sound. “Sassafras” opens with a brutal onslaught of artillery-approximating drums, machine- gun guitar riffs, and feral-sounding vocal tantrums of larynx-destroying screams. It almost sounds like death metal until just after the two minute mark, when a contrastingly crystalline chorus comes in, putting some emo back in the screamo. Where most songs here begin with what is commonly known as Cookie Monster vocals, “Dez Moines” takes the road less traveled by starting with the clean and euphonious inflections of Jeremy DePoyster before Mike Hranica tears into his esophagus with the tortured growls of a man possessed. “Louder Than Thunder” is the token piano ballad that floats beautifully with waltzing rhythms and loads of digital reverb on DePoyster’s soaring melodies — the song would sit perfectly on a soundtrack to a modern film about high school vampires or teen witches.

Best album from TDWP!!!
First off you wont find a better Christian metal band out there, there just isnt anything that compares. This album was promised to be hardcore and dark. Its promise was kept and is now my favorite album from TDWP. They surprised me with the fantastic song Louder Than Thunder. It isnt anything like their sound but it moves you in a way. Every other song is good with great vocals and fantastic instrument playing, everything just flows perfectly. Its a must have album if your a big fan and if your new to TDWP you need to check these guys out!
One Word Cannot Sum Up How Amazing This Album Is!!
FINAAALLY THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA'S NEW CD IS HERE!! I have been anticipating this release ever since TDWP announced that they were writing/recording. After waiting soo long for this album, I'll start off by saying this: IT WAS DEFINITELY WORTH THE WAIT. I mean, whoa...NO words can describe exactly how I feel about "With Roots Above and Branches Below"...my jaw dropped the 1st time I listened through the album...Yea, it's that "amazing", "epic", whatever positive adjective you want to through in there. (: Every single song I have "rated" as "5 stars" on my iPod...I dont think I've ever given every single song on an album a "5 star rating". Each song has so much energy, passion, and meaning. What I love most about this album and the band is the Message that they give. Whoever said "Hardcore/Metal is Satan's music" must feel like a complete idiot right now...They were completely wrong. I love that The Devil Wears Prada is a Christian band, and they're not afraid to share their faith w/ everyone. "With Roots Above and Branches Below" album is by far their best, but "Plagues", and "Dear Love:" will always mean something special to me. Those 2 albums got me into half of the stuff I like now, and it showed me that music can stiill have heavy guitars and rifts but yet send out the greatest message, God's message. TDWP has grown a ton since "Dear Love:", this album shows it, but they've managed to keep their sound that makes them stand out in the music world. I love all the tracks on this album, but my favorites would have to be "Louder than Thunder", "Big Wiggly Style", and "Gimme Half". BUY THIS ALBUM NOW. It's soo worth it! Oh, and If you havent seen them live, I suggest that you do. TDWP is pretty much the definition of "epic" live. (:
Epicness and Heaven on Earth
TDWP has done it again. Without selling out based on success on former album Plauges, TDWP bringings the "hard" to hardcore. With exstensive riffage (Assistant To The Regional Manager) to top notch vocals (Danger: Wildman) and pounding drums (Big Wiggly Style) TDWP has upped the anty. With scattered effects such as the violins in Big Wiggly Style and keys in I Hate Buffering remiscient to the their first album: Dear Love: A Beautiful Discord to the singing only of Lounder Than Thunder they break out all the guns. And speaking of guns, check out the heaviest song ever which is Wapkalypse!!!! Somewhere, humans and dogs and angels are rejoicing for this album.
