It's been a long time since the Works...
In the early 90s in Phoenix, AZ, there were only two good, bonafide dance music "clubs" to go to: Chupa!, with DJs Eddie Amador and Pete Salaz, and the Works, with DJ Markus Schultz. Not bad for a seemingly backwater music town, eh? But in the early 90s Phoenix had a great dance music scene, and people were throwing some revolutionary underground parties as well, where these guys would play when they weren't behind the decks at the clubs. Markus was the first DJ to truly captivate, thrill, and transport me to another place through his music, and even though the Works was my first nightclub experience, I knew that my friends and I were experiencing something special. Fast forward nearly, wow, fifteen years? and here he is on top of the world as one of the world's most respected "trance" producers and DJs. It's deserved - it's been a long road, but this is a brilliant CD. Bravo.
Wow. Trance at its best!!!
I've been waiting for this album to be released for some time now. Markus Schulz finally made it into the DJ Magazine Top 100 DJ list this year, which was well-deserved. Markus' music stands out amongst his peers' due to his melodic beats and amazing harmonies. The title track "Without You Near" by Departure stands out as being the best track on this album, and pretty frankly one of the best tracks of the year - so much so, it's on this album TWICE!!! Can't wait to see what else Departure will be doing in the near future, definitely a band to watch out for! This album can be played in the car or on the dancefloor, which is uncommon in this genre of music. Two thumbs up for Markus!
Markus Rocks!
This has been playing nonstop since I got it. Great tunes, the ones that stick out are Departure's Without You Near (Coldharbour Mix) and Without You Near (Reprise), also by Departure, & You Wont See Me Cry (oldie but goodie). The vocals on Without You near are amazing. Must have CD if you like quality trance!
