Album Review

The reshuffling of this CCM trio left it with a new vocal direction and a challenge to reinvent its sound in a time when CCM fans had heard way too much middle-of-the-road rock. In some ways, vocalist/guitarist Aaron Blanton, bass player/vocalist Ben Davis, and drummer Garrett Goodwin seemed to find a niche that wasn't too heavy, too light, or too intrusive, yet still resembled a pulsing rock ambition. Fortunately, they didn't take the oft-traveled road of Brit-pop to try to distinguish themselves, relying instead on a big jangle pop sound that combined the simplicity of Vertical Horizon with the grassroots appeal of the Fray. The downside was that this simple approach kept the trio from leaving a more memorable impression. Still, much like Vertical Horizon, it didn't preclude them from finding a loyal following and garnering mild radio success. Blanton's vocals mimic those of a mellowed-out Dave Grohl (think "Big Me," not "Everlong"), ironic since Blanton also started as a drummer. A strong cover version of Delirious?' "Rain Down" shows that the anthem isn't too big for them.

Stop Giving THem a Hard Time

So here is the deal. Whoever is mad because these are not all Tree63-written songs must not be familiar with Contemporary or Alternative Christian music. Tons of different artists will take another artist's song and give it their own spin or flavor! It's not all about money and pride and "Oh that's not their song they must not be a worthy band", it's about Jesus! That is what it is all about, and nothing else. Now if you are checking out this album but can't purchase all of them, here are my pics: 1. Rain Down - AWESOME spin on a Delirious? song. It justs makes your toe want to tap. Awesome drum, deep bass, and a good steady guitar, not to mention amazing vocals. 2. World on Fire - Good worship song. It makes you want to lift your palms to heaven and receive. So beautiful it makes you want to cry. ;'D 3. I Will Follow - Such truth to the song and again, great guitar. Get your hands on this album, one of the best by Tree63 yet!

Great Job Aagain Guys!!!

I think this is a great CD. I miss Chuck but Aaron is doing a great job as the new lead singer. From the first song till the last one, every one of them is great. World On Fire is powerful. Still Believe is my song on myspace. BTT rocks!

Not a masterpiece

By The Tree's new album is good. I was a little let down by the rest of the album considering Word On Fire is such a great song. But over all this record, is very sleepy and sometimes feel as though it has been done before. You can buy it and find some decent songs, but nothing is going to stand out here.
