Collectors Beware
Although these songs are sweet and well-performed, they are not the original recordings! As is often the case with compilations like this, it was cheaper for the record company (K-tel) to re-record the selections, rather than to license the originals. If you're a true collector at heart, continue your search elsewhere.
Re-recording!
I have several old 45's including Lenny Welch, Percy Sledge and Pat Boone singing their respective songs. After listening to this, it's easy to tell that these are re-recordings of songs by the original artists, NOT the ORIGINAL recordings.
World's Worst Rerecords!
One of the great love songs, a classic standard, Lenny Welch's 'Since I Fell for You', is a redo. Cheap shot! Sacrilege! Close, but no cigar! A real waste!
