Can't really describe it, can't stop listening to it!

Thenewno2's collection of songs on "You Are Here" are not similar to one another, yet they seamlessly fit together to make this amazing album. This is a re-release of the album, which was first released in August of last year. Some people call their sound experimental, some have called it psychadelic. The band calls it "Post-Bristol Electro-Blues," but it's addictive and bold all the way around. It's mainly electronic at times, and it's rock at times, but it's never the kind of "electronic rock" we're used to. Just listen to track 6, "Yomp," a nice swirly rocker (that the band performed on their TV debut this week!) complete with heavy thumping and guitar, and then listen to the track immediately following, "Hiding Out," an electronic track that has everything that the previous track didn't. At first listen you can't believe these songs are by the same artist, on the same album. But that's what makes this so great. There's stuff that just makes your ears smile, like "So Vain," which to me sounds like layers of sound not just from the instruments, but from Dhani's voice. "Another John Doe" is beautiful, and "Back to You" is probably my favorite. There's also two new tracks here that weren't on the August release. I just hope everyone listens with an open mind, as this is not the music you're used to hearing on the radio. It's different, and it's very good. These guys deserve all the credit also, for creating this themselves without any label influence. It makes it all the better. Nice one!

Sit Back, Relax and Enjoy

It happens so rarely, I'd almost forgotten what it's like when a band comes along with the ability to activate the mind and captivate the soul. Even more rare? An album where the only real decision is not which song you want to listen to but how high to crank it up. The raw, ethereal sound of thenewno2 manages to lull and rock you in the same breath, and You Are Here is the album that beckons to be played in a dark, hazy room where you can be fully emerged in the ride. There's a journey in each song, a tugging of the soul, and a reminder of the way music is supposed to be... I recommend turning all the lights out, opening up a cold one, and sitting back to enjoy the maiden voyage that is thenewno2.

an "Idle Lover" no more

I had been following Dhani and Oli since rumors of their band surfaced in 2005. When they annouced plans for an album soon after, i was exited well beyond words.... years later: You Are Here comes out. this album ROCKS. I usally stick to the older stuff ( mid-70's at the LATEST) but I can not put this album down. This is a MUST BUY.
