Album Review

Without Keith Moon, the Who may have lacked the restless firepower that distinguished their earlier albums, but Face Dances had some of Pete Townshend's best, most incisive compositions since Quadrophenia. "Don't Let Go the Coat" was one of his better odes to Meher Baba, "You Better You Bet" was a driving rocker, as was the rueful "Cache Cache," while "How Can You Do It Alone" was a solid ballad. While Townshend's songs were graceful and introspective, Roger Daltrey delivered them without any subtlety, rendering their power impotent. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine & Cub Koda, All Music Guide

I'm just glad that Keith isn't alive to see this

Pete, I don't blame you losing a long time friend can make writing music hard, just ask Robert Plant. To all of you who think that I'm just whining about how Keith is dead, let me explain something, they could've been great with any other drumming style, but this is just blasphemy. The music is just so tame, it's lost its edge without Keith Moon, it sounds like anyone could've written this.

Is this album worth it? You better you bet it is!

I'm impressed by how well The Who have done in this album since they lost Keith Moon. It's is not the best who album but it isn't the worst either. This album is the 3rd worst album by the who, next to The Who Sell Out (Good Album, I just don't like it that much) and It's Hard. But It's is still the who. It isn't complety overdubbed with syncronizers like it's hard is. Here is a list of the songs with # 1-10 of there rating.

You Better You Bet - 10 Best Song on Album.
Don't Let Go The Coat - 8
Cache Cache- 6 Worst Song on Album
The Quiet One - 9
Did You Steal My Money - 6.5
How Can You Do It Alone - 7.5
Daily Records- 7
You - 8.5
Another Tricky Day - 9

The Better songs on this album are You Better You Bet, Another Tricky Day, and The Quiet One. Entwistle's songs (The Quiet One and You) are some of his best work and some of the only songs on this album that sound like the good old who back in the 60's and 70's.

Buy The Who's 70's albums, The Who Sings My Generation, Tommy, and A Quick One before this one, but it's still an important stop in the Who Catalog. 8.5/10 4 Stars

IT'S NOT KEITH MOON SO IT CAN'T BE GREAT LIKE EVERY OTHER WHO ALBUM

by awesome man 1

I know that people say that it isn't good because it's not Keith Moon on the drums. It is alright, but it's not really The Who. It's Pete, John, and Roger with Kenny Jones. Kenny Jones didn't have the skills that Keith Moon did, therefore, nobody else in the band could play their style. It's only OK. Be smart and don't buy the whole album though if you you don't like the post Moon era of The Who.

Few bands in the history of rock & roll were riddled with as many contradictions as the Who. All four members had wildly different personalities, as their notoriously intense live performances demonstrated. The group was a whirlwind of activity, as the wild Keith Moon fell over his drum kit and Pete...
