The Hooters' David Uosikkinen continues his web-based singles project, IN THE POCKET: ESSENTIAL SONGS OF PHILADELPHIA. The third song to be released and available for 99 cents at songsinthepocket.org is "You Can't Sit Down," originally recorded by The Dovells in 1963.
"You Can't Sit Down" comes alive with Uosikkinen's band, ITP (In The Pocket) and features David Uosikkinen (The Hooters) on drums, with Graham Alexander (who plays Paul McCartney in Rain on Broadway) on bass, singer-songwriter Tommy Conwell on lead vocals/guitar, Eric Bazilian (The Hooters) on guitar/vocals , Jay Davidson (Steve Winwood, The Funk Brothers) on sax/vocals, and Rob Hyman (The Hooters) on keyboards/vocals. Philly music legend, Jerry Blavat also makes a guest appearance.
About the project:
With IN THE POCKET: ESSENTIAL SONGS OF PHILADELPHIA, Uosikkinen revisits songs that were either recorded in Philadelphia or written and performed by Philadelphians. These essential songs will feature a rotating line up of Philly's most respected musicians. Songs will be available for download for 99 cents at songsinthepocket.org. A video documentary by award winning producer/director Steve Acito of Bluewire Media will be produced to accompany each single.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit Philadelphia's Settlement Music School. With six branches in PA and NJ, it is the largest community school of the arts in the United States. Settlement Music School's alumni includes some of Philadelphia's most beloved residents including Kevin and Michael Bacon, Chubby Checker, Stanley Clark, Kevin Eubanks, Buddy Greco, G. Love and Frank Rizzo.
