Album Review

Toni Braxton is both an elegant and earthy songstress, nicely balancing those seemingly divergent sentiments on her self-titled debut disc. Braxton's husky, enticing voice sounds hypnotic on "Breathe Again," dismayed on "Another Sad Love Song," and disillusioned on "Love Shoulda Brought You Home." But she's never out of control, indignant, or so anguished and hurt that she fails to retain her dignity. It's a sign of how great the Babyface/L.A. Reid production team was that they didn't settle for a defining mood; they presented Braxton with enough diverse emotional settings to hold the interest of urban contemporary males and females.

Fabulous!!

I never tire of hearing Toni sing, either the old songs on this album, the newest ones, or the ones in between. She has had some health problems lately, from what I hear, but she is set to make a comeback with a new album coming out soon.

I love all of the songs on this album, but one really stands out above the rest: "Best Friend". It never got much attention at the time, and she never made it into a music video, but I think it is one of her best songs of all time.

I think it would be neat if Toni were to re-record that song and also make it into a music video.

I love this album

This was one of my first CDs and I remember that I could and would listen to it the whole way through. Every song was great!

I miss Toni. A lot. I love everything this lady comes out with, and I haven't seen anything new from her in too long. This is one of the best albums I have EVER owned. Love the lady.
