A highly respected, GRAMMY®-winning producer who has been cranking out hit records for a wide variety of artists since lacing Busta Rhymes back in '98, Virginia beat maestro Nottz has a lengthy resume, but had yet to ever put out an album under his own name – until now. On You Need This Music, he handles all of the production, but also takes the unexpected step of gripping the microphone as well, spitting commendable verses alongside a diverse assortment of guest MCs, including Snoop Dogg ("Never Caught Slippin'"), Little Brother ("I Did It For Yawl"), Black Milk ("Blast That"), and many others. Soulfully sung choruses come courtesy of Dwele, Bilal, and Mayer Hawthorne, and Travis Barker adds some live drums to the mix on the hard-hitting intro. Don't miss the guitar-laced, life-after-death dedication joint "A Dream Come True" and the punchy ego-stroker "Shine So Brite."

From a production standpoint this is as good as anything I've heard in a long time. You can tell that this is a perfectionist at work that didn't just throw tracks together, but put out a cohesive album that you can just hit play on. Worth your time and money so please support real hip hop with both for those that can afford too.
