A Pleasant Surprise

Whilst searching for a band called "Zephyr" from the early 70's, I happenned upon this utterly delightful music. Were i able to listen to the songs in thier entirety, I am sure I'de have given all 5 stars. As it was, I downloaded 3 of the songs based on the 30 second clips alone, something I NEVER do. The music is ethereal, but upbeat...an uncommon mix which Zephyr pulls off with gorgeous ease. I'll be back for more.

Zephyr- name is taken!!

It bugs me that a name that has already been used and won a grammy for best album cover with Tommy Bolin and Jock Bartley was able to use this name- It's not appropriate. I hope New age bands can be creative enough not to use other bands names. You are dorks!

The greatest thing about iTunes Store is that YOU can stumble across so much unexpected and delightful and surprising music--This incarnation of Zephyr is such a wonder!! "These are the times" is a blend of New Age, Abba, Jazz, and classical choir..and virtually every song on this album will move your soul, and make you SMILE...:p)L3

Formed: 1968 in Denver, CO

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '60s, '70s

This late-'60s Denver group is most notable as the starting point for guitarist Tommy Bolin, who was still in his teens when they recorded their first album in 1969. A rather routine slab of bluesy, heavy rock, it made the Top 50. Aside from Bolin's extended hard rock riffing, it prominently featured the lead vocals of Candy Givens, who affected a blues-wailing pose along the lines of Janis Joplin. But she didn't have the full throat or guts to back it up, ending up closer to also-ran female psychedelic...
