Description
2CanTalk is a customizable augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) framework for use by/with individuals who have speech and/or language impairments. 2CanTalk combines familiar photographic images and corresponding voice recordings into groupings and layers to provide individuals with a portable means to convey wants, needs and preferences.
We understand that the communication capability and needs of every individual are unique. Our goal is to provide parents, caretakers and educators with a communications framework that is not only simple to use, but that also can be tailored to the specific needs of a wide variety of needs and situations.
We use the term “framework” deliberately to differentiate the capabilities of the 2CanTalk application. 2CanTalk is designed to be fully customizable and configurable to suit specific individuals, situations, or instructional needs.
Fundamental to 2CanTalk is the concept of “Themes”. A Theme represents a named and layered collection of photos and associated recordings designed and constructed by the user for a specific purpose. Themes might represent an environment like “At Home” or “At the Park” or might represent instructional goals, for example “Animals and Sounds.” The number of Themes that can be created is limited only by your imagination and by the physical storage capabilities of your device.
Themes are constructed by combining photos from the Photos Library or Camera, with voice and text into a linked grouping of pages with up to six photos per page. Themes can be planned and built in advance or can be built on-the-fly to meet immediate needs or circumstances, such as a visit to an amusement park or family vacation in unfamiliar surroundings.
