What I really like is how minimalistic this app is. As other reviewers have noted, it has really fluid and slick animations, and you have to try it out to believe it!
The screenshots above don't show how cool it is when you select the drop down menu and roll the menu up or down. When you do that, of course your view of the earth stays static (if you hold your hand still) but the sun and the moon fly around orbit, which is pretty cool. It's neat to watch them get dark when they go behind the earth; it really gives it a 3D look.
My only suggestion would be to make it so that you can see a transparent view of the earth, and maybe a little dot where the GPS knows you are.
Fantastic, must buy for anyone looking for the highest quality 3D compass that shows the sun and the moon's orbits! Also it's a steal at $0.99
P.S. How cool will this be on the iPad?!
Responsive, augmented augmented reality
(Disclaimer: I received this app as a free gift from the programmer.) This is a very refined and useful 3D compass / sunpath / moonpath / sunrise calculator, and highly recommended for such things like planning a shot on location in advance if you're a cinematographer.
Conveying 3D information like "compared to where it is now, where is the sun going to set?" is very difficult with traditional means, and this app, by makeing clever use of accelerometer, compass, being responsive and fluid, makes the app feel not like a toy, but an extension of your abilities, a valuable, quick instrument.
Pictures don't really do this app justice, you have to use it yourself. If you have a use for it, you'll be amazed by the superior interface.
Nice, fluid compass
I like this version of the 3D compass the best. It is very fluid, works well, and the addition of the sun and moon is really neat. Not only can you see the sun and moon move around their orbits, but the moon also shows what phase it is in. That is a nice feature. If you're looking for a cool compass that can be used with the iphone held at any angle, do check this out.
