Description
5000 Chinese Audio Flashcards is the fastest way to learn to read Chinese using the iPhone.
Easy to use, it uses science behind the scenes to ensure you learn to read as fast as possible.
SCIENCE
* Optimization I - characters are sorted by frequency of use so that you can focus your energies on those characters that are most often used.
* Optimization II - cards that are more difficult for you are tested more often.
* Optimization III- everyone learns at a different rate. The application adjusts the speed of learning so that learning never feels too hard or too easy for you.
FEATURES
* 5000 Chinese characters (divided into 200 decks).
* Sound for each of the 5000 characters.
* Three sided flashcards - with the character, the pinyin and the definition.
* Two flashcard systems - choose between multiple choice and the more traditional "Flip Card/Correct?" answer system.
* Custom Deck Creation - create your own decks using www.flashcardfu.com.
* Multisided cards - create flashcards with up to 5 sides.
* Flashcard Sharing - you can choose to share your decks or use decks made by others.
* Colorful Graphs - help you visualize how quickly you are learning.
* Colorful feedback - the decks and cards themselves change from green to white to indicate how well you've learned them.

Customer Reviews
I can't believe someone rated this a 5*
This is a very irritating app, but has possibilities if fixed. It shows numerous decks, as advertised. But what the advertising doesn't show is that if you display the characters (with pinyin), the definitions are truncated. If the meaning is more than a couple words, the meaning ends with an ellipsis (...), but there's nothing to click on to see the rest of the meaning. There's no sound in this app, which is ok, as the lists themselves are useful, but not when the definitions are lopped off.
back to perfect
It's a perfect program again thanks to the font options. I have almost cleared 4000 characters since this came out less than a year ago. That doesn't mean I know them perfectly, but it's a great start and shows how powerful this system is. People shouldn't complain that it doesn't support bigrams - that would make a great program too, but it's not the same purpose as memorizing Hanzi individually.
Exactly What I Needed
If your objective is to build Hanyu vocabulary, this app is it. Very intuitive, well paced study aid.
