Old school awesome
This game is simply amazing. I love old school games and this one plays like one. The dialogue is fantastic and the story is gripping.
Needs minor tweaks - Great potential!
Enjoyed the first game and landed the gold edition to continue the adventure! Have only played this game for about a n hour and so far it seems good:
The positives: really appreciate the overhauled graphics and thank god the random battles are no longer an issue (as per the first game, which were excessive). Really love the journal, map and new inventory system (a lot more detail and items added including, it seems, accessories which grant new skills). In-game battles occur when you encounter enemies on screen this time and not randomly (yay!) or in over-world map (though a few randoms here wouldn't be awful). You can enter and exit transition battle areas, thus refreshing the enemies in the area, therefore a lack of enemies is not a justifiable complaint. The battles themselves have been completely overhauled from the old game, with a few added animations and we now get to see our characters in action as well. I much prefer this over the static and stagnant portraits of the first.
Seems a few updates are still needed for stability and music tweaks though: I have noticed a slight lag when the character moves. Also the party "lvl up" doesn't always seem to display as it should. I think the "swoosh" effect after every dialog click option (when u hit the little arrow) needs to be done away with or toned very down. It's highly annoying!
A few tweaking updates should clear issues up and make this a very nice RPG with a lot of classic elements and some more modern tweaks to keep things refreshing. A lot of work went into this game (it shows) and with a few tweaks it will be a REALLY great game. I'm excited for more play, continued updates and new chapters. Are side-quests going to be an option? If the developers keep working at this they will have an absolute gem on their hands. Would recommend if you like classic SNES RPGs.

Broken Battle System Response
Just to address the "My stamina is at 0 and I can no longer hurt enemies" issue. There are two possible remedies, number one is to flee every battle and heal at an "inn", and number 2 is to cast "cure" on a party member with low stamina, this removes all of the stamina debuffs and allows him to fight normally for the remainder of the battle, so the battle system isn't quite broken, it simply requires some cleverness. Overall very enjoyable and a great level of difficulty, can't wait for chapter 2
