Description

Assistive Apps presents Assistive Chat, an affordable Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC) Device, catered to people with difficulty in speech. The biggest challenge for such users when using AAC devices is the number of key strokes or hits required to construct any sentences, which can take up a significant amount of time to have a decent conversation with anyone. To overcome this challenge, Assistive Chat is designed to be simple and efficient, allowing users to communicate at the fastest rate possible, with natural sounding voices.
Features:
-Landscape and Portrait Modes to cater to different needs
-Word Prediction to minimize the keystrokes required
-Adaptive learning of new vocabulary into the word prediction list
- Favorites list for users to save commonly used sentences
-3 voices included for user to pick
-Adjustable volume and speed for voices
-Large font and buttons for easy access
-Recent list for quick access to previously spoken sentences
-Self-learning "next word" prediction
Assistive Chat is currently only designed for the English Language.

Customer Reviews

Best AAC program for adults without voice.

I lost my voice to cancer 4 years ago. Communicating with steno pad and pen was frustrating, ESP with my bad handwriting. As soon as iPad came out I got one and scoured the apps for an easy to use AAC program that would basically allow me text to speech. Of all the AAC programs I have tried assistive chat provides the best bang for the buck. The voices are not robotic, they are expressive and best of all they are loud. These are the loudest voices I have gotten in any app. They are not drowned out by normal background noise. The word prediction is very good. That and able to store favorites makes this the full meal deal. I have paid much more for several programs and have not been nearly as satisfied. My wish list is for more voice options and maybe some quick hit buttons. I recommend this for any one who needs a voice.

Assistive chat

I like this app. Simple, easy to use. Would love to see something like this available as a writing assist, not just as a chat app.
