What's New in Version 2.08.1
1. Files created with the Windows version of AudioNote can be opened. Visit http://luminantsoftware.com for details.
2. Shapes, colors, line widths and smoothing for the drawing tool
3. PDF's can be used as backgrounds for a note (to do so, open the PDF in AudioNote from the Mail App or Safari, or upload a PDF to AudioNote through iTunes FileSharing)
4. The full AudioNote file can be emailed or downloaded over WI-FI
5. AudioNote files received in emails or downloaded from websites can be directly opened on the iPad/iPhone.

Better than my digital pen! My favorite app.
I have been using a digital pen (an Echo from Livescribe) and I love it for certain things. Convenient portable notes, have pad and pen in my purse right now. Like AudioNote, with the pen I can record sound and take notes, or do one without the other. Can draw with both. BUT...AudioNote has become my preferred note taking format! The pen needs good lighting to see what you write. So when you are in a class or meeting, etc with low lighting, the pen will only record sound not notes. A couple months ago, I found myself recording sound on the pen and taking notes on my phone because they lowered the lights to better see a PowerPoint presentation. With AudioNote app I can take notes during meetings, classes and so many places, no matter the lighting on my iPad! I installed the free windows viewer on my pc and can open the notes I made on my iPad. I may eventually pay for the ability to record on the windows app too but today the portable iPad app is more practical for me.
Some people do not like the recording red bar. I like it. It is a real nice feature of the app and hope it is not removed in future versions. On the iPad, I can start an AudioNote, switch to a different app (safari) to look something out and still be recording. Having the red bar at the top of my screen reminds me to go back to close that recording if i get sidetracked. I also inform people that they are being recorded (a must in my area) and the red bar helps to establish I am not trying to capture a recording without their knowledge. Maybe to make some people happy we could see ability to turn it off, or change color of the bar. But I know I will leave it turned ON at all times.
Would like to see ability to have bullets during the note taking.
And maybe the ability to remove the time stamp on left (useful most times but would be nice to show or hide it from the notes).
WELL WORTH THE PRICE. No question about it, AudioNote is exceptionally easy to use and transfer files. Love the fact i can add onto an existing note. Recording just adds to the end. Time saver and really the best app on my iPad! Use it for work, for taking minutes of meetings, and drafting personal things too. The folder tree makes organizing the recordings/notes simple. Prefer it to other note apps I tried, including Evernote, now that I can view & hear the notes on my windows pc with the viewer application.

I used this app for college and it works great on takin notes and recording lectures an even when you are using it in math class like college algebra and trigonometry with all the shading and angles they have in class

I have used this application for about three months. I am the recording secretary for two organizations. It has exceeded my expectations. The audio quality on playback is good. The recording is easy and the ability to type notes as the meeting is documented is a bonus. The ability to add handwritten notes or illustrations is definitely a plus plus. A great value, well worth the price.
