As with all casino games, blackjack incorporates a house edge, a statistical advantage for the casino which is built into the game. Unlike other casino games, there are many different rule combinations for blackjack that can make it difficult to select the best game to play. Along with basic strategy, being able to identify games with the lowest house advantage is an important way to limit your losses.
This calculator allows you to calculate the house edge for 80 different combinations of blackjack games.
This way, when you walk into a casino to play blackjack, you are quickly able to identify the blackjack game that will give you the best odds.
A blackjack game with a 0.50% house edge will mean that a blackjack player using basic strategy playing $25/hand for an hour (about 70 hands) will expect to lose $8.75/hour.
