Great Board Game - Poor App Game
My wife and I originally bought the board game for a friend and loved it so much we bought it for ourselves. When we saw the app we were way excited. They tried to make this app waaay too flashy for what it needs to be. I agree that the hints need to be able to be turned off, They are very distracting. I'm really bummed to have spent money on this app and never ever play it.

Too much blinky, blinky
Please, please update this game so that the blinking "hints" can be turned off. They're very distracting, making it harder to see your next move. Bought this app so that we wouldn't have to pack the bulky board game when we went on vacation. Think I'll end up having to take the game anyway. The blinking is too annoying. Fix this one little thing, and I'll give it 5 stars. Love everything else about it!
Nice iPad version of the classic board game
Blokus is a classic modern board game, fun for kids and adults. The iPad version can easily replace the physical game for travel, offering local "pass and play" so 2-4 people can play together in person on the same iPad, as well as local multiplayer, allowing people with Blokus on their iPhone or iPod Touch to join in with iPad players using Blokus HD. I've never used the online multiplayer mode, which requires the use of a Gameloft account. Game Center integration would be a big plus for this game, especially with asynchronous mode as in Carcassonne.
The controls take a little getting used to, but once you understand what to do in order to flip and rotate your pieces, it works well. There are blinking indicators showing legal places to put your pieces down; this is useful for beginning players but can also be distracting. It would be nice if there were a way to turn them off.
All in all, a fine abstract strategy board game for the iPad.
