Description
C64 Paint is an app that lets you paint on a canvas up to 200 by 200 pixels with all the 16 colors of the classic 8-bit computer of the 1980s, the Commodore 64. This is the paint program from 1984: The KoalaPainter to your KoalaPad. The AtariArtist to your Atari Touch Tablet.
You can import photos, make new pictures, and export them via email or the photo library.
Make cute little monsters! Paint a sweeping landscape! Place every pixel with precision on a grid or cover a large swath with your finger using different brush sizes.
The picture editor features multiple brush sizes and canvas sizes, multiple undo and redo, and pan and zoom up to 3200%, for placing each individual pixel with precision. It has both square pixels and non-square pixels to replicate the way the C64 really looked on a TV screen. Touching the pencil/brush button cycles through 5 different brush sizes, and all 16 colors are available at a touch from the palette at the bottom.
Tips:
Painting: 1 finger always paints with the selected color.
Pan/Zoom: 2 fingers always pans and zooms.
Selection: hold down one finger in one spot for a second, and a selection marquee will pop up. The blue handles let you resize it. Dragging within the marquee will move it and the pixels inside. Tap outside it to deselect.

Mostly works for my needs
I need a pixel editor, and a program that can convert photos into a pixelated image. This does both very well. There are a few features I would like to see added:
1. Ability to change colors in palette. The palette will change if I load an image, to optimize to the loaded image. This is good. But when creating a new image I cannot figure out how to change the colors in my palette.
2. Ability to select the number of colors in the palette. I know the point is to simulate the c64, but this is a good pixel editing program. I would like to be able to use it for cases where I want to create pixel art and have more (or sometimes, less) colors available.
3. Ability to export images with the grid turned on. This would let me show people patterns that they can use to transfer the image to other media besides computer screens. Right now I sort of simulate this by doing a screen shot in edit mode and emailing the screenshot to myself.
4. Ability to use AirPrint. When I create a pattern to transfer pixel art to other media, I want to print it out with the grid turned on.
5. When opening an image, it does a good job of selecting a resolution and aspect ratio, but if I want to bump it up to 200 pixels, then I lose the aspect ratio. I got it back by adjusting the aspect ratio on the right, but what i wanted was to hit a reset button to go back to the original selections the program made.
Love the app, but...
Great app! I use this all the time for sprite work. Best on the app store, but as others said: a line tool and more colors would rock so hard.
nice app
It's a nice idea for a drawing app and you can even pixelate your own photos!
Just would like more colors :)
Thanks again for the app iphoneapp-promocodes.com
