CakeLove Lost
I was very excited to find this since I had heard a great deal about CakeLove on a variety of different media outlets. My excitement turned to disappointment when I read the recipe for the Ohio Cassata Cake which was to be the first recipe from the app I was to try.
As someone who bakes frequently I had no issue with an advanced recipe. I've read the recipe over and over again and I found things missing! First -I thought having the same ingredient listed mote than once was a little confusing. As I went over the steps, I found them to be vague - it says whisk the dry and wet ingredients - which ones? Other ingredients are simpy left out of the step entirely or seem to be left in limbo! The ricotta cheese for the citrus-ricotta filling is NEVER mentioned in the steps. Worse even - there are three steps dedicated to simmered milk that. NEVER gets added anywhere!
While these issuses may only be with this recipe it is the one I most wanted to try and it is lacking! One star, deleting the app.

Mmmm, cake! Step-by-step instructions, mouth-watering photos, ingredient shopping lists, how-to videos, store locations. Everything you need right there. Just download and start baking. What more could you ask for? Great app!

Had a great time baking my first meringue. Very helpful using the supplies list while shopping for ingredients too. The photos were mouth-watering :-)
