Caldwell Precision Chronograph 17+

I was excited to use this app with my new chronograph and according to Caldwell’s website and the chronograph manual all items should’ve worked with my iPhone 12 Pro Max. Of course I had to use an adapter in order to connect to the chronograph. And after a lot of troubleshooting nothing worked. Even though the indicator on the app was green showing it was connected, it still didn’t work.

So I tried it with my old iPad. It worked great! I do wonder what happens when I upgrade to a new iPad. Will it not work then.

Not sure what part is the problem: the phone, the chronograph or the adapter in order the connect the cable to the phone.

Shot lists must be created when shooting, so there is no way to enter load data in ahead of time. This makes it a real pain and time consuming to type all this in while at the firing line during round development.
Also, no way to add shots to a saved group, or add a shot manually in a string in the event of communication issues via the cable or Bluetooth.
Lastly, the ability to add a picture to the saved shot string is great, but it can only access the camera, so you can’t use a photo from the library. It would be better to also allow the user to select an image from the library so that they can quickly take images of all groups at once, and add them to the saved shot groups later. (This would also allow the user to user images that have been annotated with group size by other apps)
Disappointed that there has been no updates in 4 years.

I downloaded the App after purchasing the chronograph. Took it to the range and it interfaces and logged the data from shots perfectly. I updated the App on my iPhone 11 and it stopped working. After buying a new dongle from Apple, putting the App on my newer work iPhone, my wife’s 14, getting a brand new Chronograph from Caldwell it still does not interface to the App. So for the headache and hassle I’m recording date the old fashion way, pen and paper one shot at a time at the range and putting it into a spread sheet from the first working session before the update. It is disappointing that a big part of the total tool is useless artist on a bore.
