Description

Screen Capture Sharing for Mac. Automatically uploads screenshots copy the url to your clipboard, ready to paste.

Step 1: Command-Shift-5 to Take a Screen Shot
Step 2: Command-V to Paste the Link

No additional steps added. Take a screen shot and Captured will upload the image automatically, and copy the link to your clipboard. Captured is designed to use very little system resources and has no clunky UI to deal with, all the processing happens in the background. Automatically.

Almost immediately after taking a screen shot Captured will upload the image to the server. While this happens the menu extra icon will change to full color to let you know it is uploading. Once it is complete the icon will show a green screen to let you know the upload has finished. At that point the URL of your screen shot is on the clipboard, ready to share.

The goal is to take a common task and stream line it to the absolute minimum possible. Allowing you to work faster, and spend more time thinking about your projects and not how you are going to share a picture. Need to find an image you recently shared, it's right there in Captured's history menu.

Captured uploads images to Imgur.com by default, but can be configured to use SFTP, Amazon S3 or even a custom PHP script.

Important Note: After installing Captured you have to double click on the icon to start it. When this app is running you will see the icon in the menu bar on the upper right of your screen. If you want Captured to start up automatically make sure to choose "Start at Login" from the menu.

Works well, but it is broken

This app works nicely and does it what it says it does, but there are some caveats on Modern MacOS.

Firstly, it does not save your settings after a relaunch. You have to enter them again.

Secondly, it will crash if you try to "Add Shortcut" before you have an "Account" set up (from the "Accounts Tab"). Just don't even click the "Shortcuts" tab before you do the Account. Same for "Drag & Drop".

So here are the steps to deal with this app today (it is great for screenshotting and sending to SFTP! Best for Mac I've found, so I deal with it):

1. Launch Captured
2. Set up Account
3. Set up Shortcuts
4. Set up Drag and Drop
5. Close the window (red button, top left)

It will stay running and now you can screenshot and send to your destination.

I would appreciate a fix for this, but it's not unusable.

Does what it says superbly

Leaving one star out because the annotation tool does not allow you to insert text.

Also, adding the ability to share files would be nice. Image uploads rock but I would like to, for instanct, drag a file over the toolbar icon and get the link for that file to share with others. I realize this won’t work with the default service (imgur) but it would be a nice add.

Does not work with Catalina

Crashes when adding shortcuts or setting drag and drop. Can't set up accounts either.
