Description

CFLR and The Rutter Group are pleased to bring DissoMaster, the most widely used support calculator in California, to the iPad. This app is certified by the Judicial Council and makes it fast and easy to calculate support on the go or in the courtroom. While not a replacement for DissoMaster desktop, the DissoMaster app does contain many of the features and ease of use you’ve come to expect. DissoMaster accurately converts gross income to net for calculating support. Generate a report of child and spousal support payments and guideline net income that can be emailed or printed. Calculate temporary spousal support using Santa Clara, Alameda, Kings, or Marin County Guidelines.
• Approved by the Judicial Council for use in all California courts
• From CFLR and The Rutter Group, a Thomson Reuters business
• On-screen help provides line-by-line entry instructions with references to applicable Rutter Group sections, caselaw, and statutes
• The easy-to-read DissoMaster report can be printed or emailed

Note to existing desktop DissoMaster users: The DissoMaster app allows you to save one case, does not include bonus reports, tactics, or the ability to connect to your desktop DissoMaster. Stay tuned for more updates as we continually add features to the DissoMaster app.

Ytd income

This would be much more helpful with the ability to input income based upon a year to date number similar to that which appears in the desktop version.

Very Handy

I was able to e-mail my DissoMaster to clerk and opposing counsel at trial. I wish there was a save option.

Missing Key Features :-(

Having a Mac-based office, I've been looking for a way to run DissoMaster easily, and the iPad app is just the trick. I've been running XSpouse within a Wine environment, but that's not a total solution, either.

Here's the problem... first of all, this is the most expensive app I have ever purchased, and my expectations were high. But, the iPad version of DissoMaster is missing several key features:

1) As another reviewer stated, there is no ability to enter Y-T-D income for a projection of a party's annual income.

2) There seems to be no way to generate Smith-Ostler (excess earnings) bonus tables. These tables are a key part of guideline child support, but this critical feature is just flat-out missing. In other words, if you have a party with variable income (bonuses, commissions, etc.), you won't be able to capture the excess earnings over the base pay with this app. Almost makes the app useless.

3) The cash flow analysis is meager, at best, nor does the app allow you to print "per child" information. Again, key information is missing.

4) There are other things... the preferences are weak, there is little ability to customize data input (e.g. parent resides outside of California and pays out-of-state taxes instead of California taxes), etc. In fact, the printed report doesn't even identify WHICH party pays support (you have to know that the parenthesis around the support number indicate that the lower net-income party is the payor, and if there are no parenthesis it's the higher net-income parent).

5) Can't save the data input as a file to be modified/edited later. Only options are to email the report or the print the report (via AirPrint).

All in all, the app is "OK", but will only have limited usability given its unacceptable limitations. And, for $50, I expected a LOT more. This is one huge problem I have with many publishers who sell their apps through the App Store... there is no way to demo or evaluate many of them before plunking down money unless the publisher makes a free or "lite" version available for previewing. Had I seen these features missing, it's very likely I would NOT have made this purchase. You may want to consider this purchase very, very carefully. I'm fairly disappointed.
